Our flock

Meet some of the birds who live here.

Many arrived plucked, hurt or afraid. Your donations pay for their food and vet care for the rest of their lives.

Buddah, a moluccan cockatoo

Buddah

Moluccan cockatoo

She arrived in 2002 featherless, wounded and afraid of being left alone. She'd been raised on a person instead of in a cage with toys, and when her people became homeless she suddenly had nothing. A good Samaritan brought her to us.

Magoo, a umbrella × moluccan cockatoo

Magoo

Umbrella × Moluccan cockatoo

Eight homes in four years made Magoo a vicious, unpredictable biter. After a lot of patience he learned he belongs to a flock that loves him, and his trust in us grows every day.

Baby, a goffin's cockatoo

Baby

Goffin's cockatoo

Perfectly feathered at the pet store. Sold, then returned two months later completely plucked. Living among other cockatoos, she's grown in much fuller down.

Popo, a cockatoo

Popo

Cockatoo

We were warned he was a vicious biter. Nobody mentioned what a mush he is. All he needed was a flock to feel secure, and this is his final home.

Missy, a cockatoo

Missy

Cockatoo

She once shared a small cage with an Amazon parrot who attacked her almost daily. She still battles her feathers, but she's become one of the best goofballs we've known.

Simba

Cockatoo

Arrived plucked with a shattered keel bone. A few surgeries and over $3,000 in vet bills later, she's a wonderful, happy bird.

Rico

Parrot

His owners left $100 toward his vet bill and said they were done. We've spent ten times that on his care. He's a fabulous bird, and healthy now.

Sarah

Parrot

Bought to decorate a bed and breakfast, then shut in a dark basement. An employee rescued her. She has limited mobility for life, but she's loved now.
